Visiting North Haven and Port Macquarie?

North Haven is a nature lover’s retreat surrounded by activities and attractions. From our long, golden beaches, miles of waterways, exceptional national parks and nature reserves, there’s something to tempt all ages.  Surfing, kayaking, sailing and fishing are top of the must-do list for water lovers whilst nearby Dooragan National Park offers stunning views and wonderful bushwalks for land lovers.

North Haven is reminiscent of the wonderful seaside holidays of our childhood and is popular with tourists of all ages.

Dining

The towns of North Haven and Laurieton are a hub of restaurants and cafes offering a range of local cuisine, seafood and international fare. There is a range of fast food restaurants offering family-friendly dine in and takeaway options.  There are two clubs and a range of pubs.

The annual Slice of Haven food festival occurs in April.

Zoos 

Billabong Zoo 

Get up-close and personal to Australian and exotic animals where you can pat, stroke, feed, hold, hear and see over 80 species of mammals, reptiles and birds. The zoo cares for 200+ animals in this friendly 10 acre Koala and Wildlife Park. Enjoy daily zoo talks.

Port Macquarie Koala Hospital

The Koala Hospital consists of a treatment room, 8 Intensive Care Units, 6 outdoor intensive care units and 33 rehabilitation yards, many of which have trees for koalas to learn to climb as part of the rehabilitation process.

Kids Playgrounds 

Golf

The closest golf course to our Jacaranda Holiday Park is Kew Country Club and Golf Course. This is a championship-style 18 hole golf course. Night golf is often available in the warmer months.

Additionally, there are three golf courses in Port Macquarie and another in Wauchope.

Fishing

Numerous options and locations for all styles of fishing including rock / beach fishing and boating at our estuaries, lake & freshwater waterways – all accessible within 30 minutes from Jacaranda Holiday Park.

There are two bait & tackle shops in North Haven and another 10 mins away in Dunbogan.

SUP and kayaks for hire

Dunbogan Boat Shed has a wide range of boats for hire including stand up paddleboards (SUPs) and kayaks. The boatshed has an onsite cafe overlooking the marina and offers fishing and bait supplies.

Hiking

The North Haven, Port Macquarie and Hastings Valley region offers visitors a huge range of both coastal hiking and bushwalking options.

We highly recommend the following hikes :

  • Point Perpendicular
  • Crowdy Head
  • Diamond Head
  • Old Railway walk

For panoramic views of the entire Camden Haven area, take the North Brother trail to the lookout.

To gain an appreciation of our spectacular local flora, Bird Tree and Old Bottlebutt are two of the largest trees in the southern hemisphere and are located a picturesque 30 minute drive from Jacaranda Holiday Park.

Beaches

There are several patrolled & beautiful beaches close to our park.  Pilot Beach is family-friendly and has a netted enclosure. Additionally, North Haven Baths, Henry Kendall Reserve & Googley’s Lagoon are safe for kids and very popular with families.

Horse Riding

Paragliding

Mountain Biking

Jolly Nose mountain bike trail has 60km of tracks & runs several events each year located. It is only 15 mins from park. Visit www.hvmbr.com.

Vineyards and Wine Tasting

There are several vineyards open for wine tasting dotted throughout the Port Macquarie and Hastings Valley region.
